Newsboys, Connecticut, 1909

Newspaper boys, or as they were called “newsboys”, were the main distributors of newspapers from the middle of 19th to the early 20th century in the United States. These boys pose for Lewis Wickes Hine in New Haven, Connecticut on March 8, 1909. The smallest newsboy is 10 years old and by that age he was selling newspapers a year and a half.
