This photo of Marine Sergeant Frank Praytor feeding tiny orphaned two-week-old kitten became very popular in 1953. It was published in more than 1,700 newspapers. By the way, the kitten survived. Frank Praytor called her Miss Hap because, he explained, \u201cshe was born at the wrong place at the wrong time\u201d.\u00a0After Praytor returned home, Miss Hap became something of a mascot for the company\u2019s public information office. The image of a handsome Marine helping a tiny animal struck a chord with the public. Praytor received hundreds of letters including many simply addressed to \u201cKitten Marine, Korea.\u201d \u201cI got letters from girls all over the country who wanted to marry me,\u201d Praytor told the U.S. Naval Institute in a 2009 interview. \u201cI even got a few offers from men,\u201d he laughed.
Frank Praytor, died on January 10, 2018 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was 90 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
