Believe it or not, but Norway land didn’t see any bananas before this day. The delivery was organized by the UK company, which started to deliver these exotic fruits from British colonies to the European countries. Bananas were produced together with citrus fruits overseas, but they stayed relatively expensive.
While many companies were delivering and selling citruses and pineapples in northern European countries for many years, bananas stayed untouched by international trade due to its short shelf life. Bananas were unripe so that Norway groceries could have an extra day or two to sell them until rotten. No chemical gases used to keep bananas safe, as companies are doing it nowadays.
